Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

PledgePair is operated by Appleseed Media LLC, a South Dakota limited liability company ("we," "us"). This policy explains what information we collect when you use PledgePair, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions: support@pledgepair.com.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly: display name, optional email address, pledge details (charity, amount, message, deadline), and match confirmations (matcher name, optional email, amount, confirmation status).

Information collected automatically: basic technical and usage information through our hosting and analytics providers, such as pages visited, approximate location derived from IP address, browser type, and referral source. We use privacy-focused analytics and do not build individual advertising profiles of our users.

3. What Is Public

Pledge pages are public. Display names, charity names, amounts, messages, deadlines, matched status, and earned achievements appear on public pledge pages, browse listings, and shareable content (such as social share images generated by the platform). Pledge creators may also appear on public leaderboard or community sections, identified by display name and an assigned public tag. Email addresses are never shown publicly. Leaderboard entries are derived from pledge records, so requests regarding your information (Section 8) apply to leaderboard display as well. Do not include information in your display name or message that you don't want public.

4. How We Use Information

We use the information you provide to operate PledgePair: displaying pledges, completing matches, generating shareable content, preventing fraud and abuse, and responding to support requests. If you provide an email address, we may use it to contact you about your pledge or match. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising purposes.

5. Cookies, Similar Technologies, and Advertising

PledgePair uses only the cookies and browser storage necessary to operate the site and measure aggregate usage. PledgePair does not currently use third-party advertising cookies or build individual advertising profiles.

We may in the future display advertising on the site, including through Google AdSense or similar advertising networks. If we do, those networks may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies is described in Google's own privacy and advertising policies. You may be able to manage personalized advertising choices through the advertising provider's settings and through any consent tools we provide. If we introduce advertising technologies that collect personal information or track users across sites, we will update this policy and provide any required choices before using them. Where required by law or advertising platform rules, we may display a cookie or consent notice before using certain advertising technologies. Any sponsored placements we introduce will be clearly labeled.

6. Third-Party Services

We use service providers to operate the platform, including Supabase (database hosting), Vercel (website hosting and analytics), Stripe (payment processing for optional platform support payments), and Every.org (nonprofit information and donation links). These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. When you donate to a nonprofit or make a support payment, those transactions occur on third-party platforms under their own privacy policies — PledgePair does not receive your payment card details.

We may also link to an external merchandise store operated through Printify or another merchandise provider. Merchandise purchases occur through that third-party store or checkout system under its own privacy policy and terms. PledgePair does not receive your payment card details from merchandise purchases.

Optional platform support payments, merchandise purchases, sponsored placements, and premium media purchases are separate from charitable donations and are processed by third-party providers. If advertising is displayed on the site, advertising networks such as Google act as independent third parties under their own privacy policies rather than as service providers acting on our behalf.

7. Data Security

We use reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted database access, and reputable infrastructure providers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

Pledge and match records are retained while relevant to operating the platform. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information, email support@pledgepair.com from the address associated with your pledge or match (or include enough detail for us to locate your records). We will respond within a reasonable time, generally within 30 days. Note that deleting a pledge or match may also remove it for the person you paired with.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and which laws apply to us, you may have privacy rights such as access, correction, deletion, or opt-out rights. Even where not legally required, we try to honor reasonable access, correction, and deletion requests from all users using the process in Section 8. We do not currently sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act. If our practices change, including through advertising technologies that may constitute "sharing," we will update this policy and provide any required opt-out choices.

10. International Visitors

PledgePair is operated from the United States, and information is processed on servers in the United States. If you use PledgePair from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country.

11. Do Not Track

Some browsers send "Do Not Track" signals. Because there is no common standard for interpreting them, PledgePair does not respond to Do Not Track signals. Our current practices are the same for all users. If we introduce advertising technologies that involve tracking or personalized advertising, we will update this policy and provide any required choices.

12. Children

PledgePair is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact support@pledgepair.com and we will delete it.

13. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a revised date. Material changes may also be highlighted on the site.
